Responsibilities

  • Performing detailed system safety tasks such as system and subsystem hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, and software safety analysis.
  • Assist with the evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, as well integrating technical parameters to assure compatibility of physical, functional, and program interfaces. 
  • Work in conjunction with analyses for reliability & maintainability, human systems integration, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other quality factors that drive a preferred configuration that ensures mission success.
  • Support major program technical reviews including PDRs, CDRs and test flights
  • Some work may be 2nd shift or multi-shift.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

  • Experience with development, implementation and/or management of a system safety plan
  • Experience with system safety analysis and documentation

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the design and operation of Range Safety Systems, as well as software safety
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of the system safety requirements of MIL-STD-882 DoD Standard Practice System Safety and/or NASA/SP-2010-580 NASA System Safety Handbook

 

Typical Education and Experience

 Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
