  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
  • Leads analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Managing appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements;
  • Overseeing sensor subcontractor design, development, integration and testing of software and hardware systems;
  • Participating in all peer reviews, design reviews and related activities;
  • Planning and supporting Ground Testing, Flight Testing and post test data analysis;
  • Assisting customer in troubleshooting and fixing field problems and failures by integrating input from numerous engineering and manufacturing disciplines or field diagnostic data to resolve product failures;
  • Leading corrective action process and product improvement projects to enhance product quality; and
  • Developing risk mitigation plans for presentation to management and customers.
  • Reviewing and monitoring status, metrics, schedules and plans.
  • Verifying high quality functionality is developed and properly tested.
  • Developing innovative solutions to a wide range of complex problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Responsibilities include performing systems engineering in a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment, developing, deriving requirements, identifying interfaces and interface requirements, performing functional decomposition, identifying, developing models and simulation, performing performance analyses and leading trade studies.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Requirements):

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • Candidate will have a strong software and hardware background and a full understanding of Systems Engineering and the ability to lead others to integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • This activity requires strong technical leadership, communication and organization skills to work integration activities between customer sensor systems, suppliers, airframe and mission computing across Requirements, Design and Test Teams to ensure successful integration with subsystems and provide leadership to ensure all required functions comply with requirements.

Typical Education/Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
