Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of this position is to
provide Systems engineering and related documentation support to the
Structures, Dynamics (Loads), Shock, and Vibration team.  This team has
several SLS Data products that will need to be updated in time to support the
SLS milestone reviews including Design Certification Review (DCR), Detailed
Verification Objectives (DVO) and Detailed
Validation Objectives (DVaO).
 
Manage the delivery and maintenance of the
team’s products

  • Documentation activities related to Review Item
    Discrepancy (RID) closure,  Request for Action (RFA) closures, and
    Verification and Validation activities

 

  • Track SLS Interface activities and requirements

 

  • Coordinate with Interface Control Documents (ICD’s)
    that are owned by other SLS organizations

 

  • Ensure that the Integrated Vehicle Loads Finite
    Element, Flex, and Twist and Sway Models in the Design Model Log
    (DMM-STE-0105) meet all of the requirements specified in SLS-PLAN-173 SLSP
    Modeling and Simulation Plan

 

  • Manage the plethora of Model Task Teams that are
    required in accordance with SLS-STD-038 SLSP Design Model Delivery
    Standard

 

  • Support other Structures Team efforts, including but
    not limited to coordination with respect to meetings, schedules, risks,
    issue identification/resolution, actions and reporting

 

  • Involved with Data deliveries to other SLS
    organizations and other Programs such as Orion at NASA/JSC and Ground
    Systems at NASA/KSC, which could require memos and other protocols

Qualifications

 

 Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical
Engineering, Physics or related technical field from an
ABET-accredited university is required.  Typically, educational
requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with minimum of 12 years of experience,
a Masters with at least 15 years of experience, or BS with at least 20 years of
experience.  

 

    • Successful candidate should have a Systems Engineering
      background, preferably with ability to understand and work with analysts
      within the Structures team

 

    • Must be able to interface between the SLS Systems
      Engineering organization and the Structures team 

 

    • Must be able to understand and work within the
      Configuration Management and Data Management organizational structure and
      policies/procedures of the SLS Systems Engineering team

 

    • Excellent communication skills, technical writing, and
      presentation skills are required

 

    • Experience with a PC and Microsoft Office Word, Excel,
      PowerPoint, and Outlook are required 

 

    • Understanding and knowledge of current SLS program
      plans and strategy is desired

 

  • Personnel are required to be self-motivated, team
    players familiar with working in a dynamic work environment
