Responsibilities

As a SPACE PAYLOADS SYSTEMS ENGINEER the selected candidate will provide project and integration support for in-space additive manufacturing systems for the Space Technology Development Branch and the In-Space Manufacturing (ISM) Project Office located at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

•Providing integration expertise in support of various International Space Station (ISS) technology demonstrations including the ISS Multi-Material Fabrication Laboratory
•Providing Design Development Test and Evaluation (DDT&E) system engineering support to assist with system integration
•Facilitating development of plans for ground demonstration articles including maturation of operational and design details
•Assisting the MSFC/ISM Project Office during evaluation periods related to ISS payloads
•Assisting Payload developers as needed with applications of advanced design and manufacturing technologies.

Qualifications

 •Subject matter expertise in payload development, launch, and operations aboard ISS or other manned vehicles
•Subject matter expertise in coordination and integration of payload functional elements•The ability to perform both horizontal and vertical integration across disciplines and elements/sub-elements of projects•A broad understanding of systems engineering processes•Knowledge of NPR 7120.5 NASA Flight Program and Management Requirements•Knowledge of NPR 7123.1 Systems Engineering Processes and Requirements •The ability to be proactive and complete tasks with minimal direction•An ABET accredited BS degree in Systems Engineering or a related field with at least 20 years’ relevant experience in space hardware/software verification and validation, planning, integration, and/or acceptance•5-10 years of hardware design experience, especially as related to miniaturization, advanced manufacturing, and use of composites in space applications.•Expertise and proficiency with standard Microsoft Office products
DESIRED:
•Knowledge of NPR 7150.2 NASA Software Engineering Requirements
