Responsibilities

The candidate will provide system and software engineering support for the HSG endpoint servers (the systems that attach directly to the HSG and run custom software for the sorting and transfer of data through the HSG). This support shall include the migration of the current endpoint server baseline installation from RHEL 6 to RHEL 7 following DISA STIG guidance for RHEL 7 and any other applicable STIGs, adapting the endpoint’s configuration to function optimally with the future/newer CDS (this includes the modification of custom Perl scripts and RPM packages), creating and updating system and software engineering documentation, installing approved Endpoint baseline releases at all HSG operational locations in accordance with system and local site procedures, and ensuring operational success according to a Systems Operational Verification Test (SOVT).

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study which provides substantial knowledge useful in managing large, complex AIS projects, is closely related to the work to be automated, and/or in a computer science, information system, a physical science, engineering or a mathematics – intensive discipline, or an applicable training certificate from an accredited training institution.

 

Experience Requirements: Have five years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in performing systems analysis, development, and implementation for business, mathematical, engineering or scientific settings using a variety of information technology resources. Has experience with current technologies and, where required for the task, emerging technologies.

 

Specialized Skillsets/Requirements:

A Secret Clearance is required. The candidate must possess 5 years programming experience; 5 years experience in microcomputer or minicomputer based systems using C, C++, FORTRAN, Ada, JAVA, HTML, PERL, and Web development. Experience with Naval Oceanography Application development & integration is strongly recommended. Education as stated.
