Summary:

Geocent is seeking talented individuals with Project Management experience who are interested in an exciting and challenging career in consulting (full-time roles). You will join Geocent’s Project Management Office (PMO) and be responsible for initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing client projects. This role will include high levels of client interaction and the successful application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements in medium to large enterprise environments. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced project management professionals in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Managing project scope, budget, and client expectations
  • Managing and delegating responsibilities and priorities to technical staff
  • Creating project artifacts such as requirements documents, design documents, implementation plans, governance plans, and organizational readiness plans for your engagements
  • Working closely with clients and other Geocent personnel to understand and manage project delivery expectations
  • Conducting and leading analysis/requirements workshops and interviews with client stakeholders
  • Communicating clearly, professionally, and regularly with clients, partners, vendors, and other Geocent personnel
  • Supporting business meetings, including requirements and architecture reviews, and delivering technical and business impact presentations with both IT team members as well as business users
  • Ensuring Geocent management and delivery processes are in place and being properly executed
  • Transferring knowledge successfully to clients through formal presentations and informal training
  • Seeking opportunities to continually develop both consultative/interpersonal skills and written communication skills
  • Mentoring project team members
  • Maintaining relevant industry certifications
  • Participating in developing and refining best practices for projects
  • Performing internal projects as requested and engaging in other activities which contribute to the improved performance of Geocent as a company

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of project management experience, plus relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated strong analysis skills and the ability to make critical business recommendations
  • Willingness to manage both commercial and state and local government projects both at client sites and the Geocent office
  • Proven organizational skills and team management ability
  • Possess an exceptional customer service attitude, be dependable with a great work ethic, show demonstrated initiative, and display ownership of issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the desire to work in a team environment across organization functional boundaries
  • Strong analysis skills; the ability to make critical business recommendations and think
  • Ability to work efficiently in teams and/or independently without oversight or work review
  • Ability to successfully work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Former aerospace and defense experience
  • Need skills at conducting competitive pricing for purchases to include repair parts for our technicians and System Administrators when necessary.
  • Needs to be savvy in getting things in a timely manner.
  • Needs to be familiar (used it in a college class familiar) with Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PPT.
  • The ability to travel up to 25%
  • A Secret Clearance will be required for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Knowledge of a variety of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile, Scrum and Waterfall
  • Experience using Microsoft Project
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification(s), such as Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • ITIL Certification
  • Previous consulting firm experience
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) chapter participation
