    Responsibilities

    This position will share responsibilities in performing all aspects of system administration and maintenance of a Production system that is currently being upgraded in a SPAWAR data center and eventually will be migrated to the AWS Gov Cloud. The System Admins are responsible for ensuring the health of the Production environment, as well as a Dev and Test/QA environments and requires the ability and initiative to dive into troubleshooting issues and performing root cause analyses.

    Tasks will include:

    • Provision, Configure and Administer Windows Server 2012 VMs and components within a VMWare Environment
    • Configure VLAN, IPs, and data storage within VMWare. 
    • Ensure that operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to DISA STIGs and Navy and SPAWAR guidelines; take measures to ensure system security and data integrity.
    • Manage IIS Web Servers for SSL, proxy and application hosting
    • Perform and/or oversee system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
    • Install, upgrade, configure, test, maintain and support system software in a production environment.
    • Create batch SQL and PowerShell utility scripts; perform configurations and adjustments to enhance database file capacity; perform automated and manual backup and restore processes.
    • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
    • Apply Windows patches and updates
    • Recommend and direct software changes and updates to keep systems up-to-date
    • Perform and/or oversee backup operations
    • Provision and configure new Windows Resources as needed by the team
    • Establish and document a governing System Maintenance plan and associated procedures
    • Establish and document procedures for maintaining user accounts, assign file permissions and establish password and account policies.
    • Work with various teams in transitioning existing infrastructure into AWS Gov Cloud.
    • Assist with Database administration and management.
    • Work as a high level independent contributor or team leader

    Qualifications

    • Requires bachelor’s degree (in Engineering, Computer Science or related field) or equivalent experience
    • 3-5 years’ relevant experience
    • Use of Windows and Microsoft products in a virtualized environment such as:
      • PowerShell, VBScript, batch or some other Windows-specific scripting experience
    • Extensive experience in VMWare and VirtualBox
    • Experience in HBSS, WSUS, ACAS scans, DISA STIGs, IAVA/IAVB/IAVM
    • Experience in applying DISA STIGs
    • Experience in AWS/Azure/Rackspace/Other cloud or hosted providers
    • Administrator-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server to include:
      • User management and server settings
      • Backup and restore
      • Basic queries
      • Basic troubleshooting
    • Familiarity with Active Directory to include:
      • Group Policy management, deployment, troubleshooting experience
      • Understanding of Active Directory Topology, Replication and Trusts
      • User and group management
      • AD-Integrated DNS management and troubleshooting
      • Understanding of Active Directory disaster recovery procedures
    • Administration of IIS
      • Deployment of software to IIS
      • Configuring IIS for SSL and PKI
      • Experience in basic administration of SharePoint
    • Familiarity with SharePoint and Remedy a plus

    Highly Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in a DoD environment
    • Experience in migrating a system into AWS Gov Cloud

    *Required:   Active Secret clearance and IAT2 or Security+ certification
