    The Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program is the Minuteman III replacement system led by the United States Air Force. Our team is supporting the USAF’s nuclear deterrence mission to replace the entire weapon system and refurbish the existing ground systems infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    • The selected candidate will provide the technical guidance and perform critical system safety and environmental engineering work. The work will consist of planning, coordinating, and performing detailed System Safety tasks such as system and subsystem hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, functional hazard analysis, and software safety analysis to mitigate potential safety hazards.
    • The selected candidate will also assist with the evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, as well as integrating technical parameters to assure compatibility of physical, functional, and program interfaces.
    • In addition to working with System Safety personnel, the individual will work extensively with design, development, and test personnel to impart safety requirements early in the design process working collaboratively in a Model Based Systems Engineering environment. 

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications (Required):

    • This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
    • Candidate must be familiar with environmental engineering and hazardous material management, in conjunction with quality factors that combine to drive a preferred configuration ensuring safety, consistent with mission and contract requirements. 
    • Demonstrated performance is required exhibiting incorporating these factors into integrated system designs in a timely and cost effective manner.
    • Familiarity with operational regulatory requirements of DOD, Air Force nuclear surety/safety, Software Safety, Range Safety, and explosives design, transportation, and handling.

     

    Typical Education/Experience:

    Level 5:

    Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

      

     

    Must have or be able to obtain security clearance.
