    The Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program is the Minuteman III replacement system led by the United States Air Force. Our team is supporting the USAF’s nuclear deterrence mission to replace the entire weapon system and refurbish the existing ground systems infrastructure.


    We are looking for a Security System Design Engineer who can model and design complex perimeter security systems for Government installations. Technical challenges of this role range from:

    • The combination of advanced sensors used around the facility to detect and characterize intruders at range in all weather conditions
    • The processing, correlation, and learning from of those sensor data streams to reduce false alarms
    • The presentation of imagery and processed data from sites to allow rapid operator decisions
    • The design of physical barriers, authentication systems, and entry layers to prevent unauthorized access
    • The design of interior sensors and alarms
    • Apply an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to lead security and surveillance efforts
    • Apply systematic and best practice system engineering and leads segment and sub-segment requirements, functional breakdown, understanding of all security and surveillance commercial and government regulations, supplier technical oversight, and trade studies. 
    • Initiate planning and organizing and creates work standards. 
    • Optimize total system of systems and system architectures. 
    • This position will require customer focus, interfacing to upper management, rigid requirements writing, good organizations skills, and the ability to collaborate with all levels of engineering, support, and management staff. 
    • Technical proposal development
    • Assist with responding to RFPs, provide oversight to the technical approach, design direction and pricing. Proposal development -
    • Produce technical response in proposal.
    • Lead in the preparation of design drawing and product research. 
    • System design and integration across systems. 


    This position requires an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with an investigation within the past 5 years. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Technology or similar is required.
    • Minimum 10+ years of related field engineering experience required.
    • Proven track record of success designing security systems required.
    • Proven ability to perform in a supervisory capacity required.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills required
    • Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required.
    • Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
    • Understanding of advanced security principles, theories, and concepts as well as job practices, techniques, and security standards.
    • Working and practical knowledge of security and surveillance is a must (minimum of 10 years). 
    • Some travel will be required. 
    • Knowledgeable in the UFGS specifications as applied to government security systems and their installation.
    • Knowledge of security technologies including but not limited to: 
      - Video Surveillance and related technologies
      - Access Control and related technologies
      - Physical intrusion detection
    • Ability to apply UFGS specifications requirements to security design drawings. 
    • Physical security information management experience.
    • IP based video, access control, and intercom systems.
    • TCP/IP networking design knowledge.


    • Government facilities experience highly preferred.
    • Experience and proficiency with ICD 705 highly preferred.
