    The selected candidate will support Agile Application Development technologies and capabilities in the areas of software development, systems engineering, integration, and test of software applications and infrastructure. This effort will support the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

    Responsibilities

    • Design and implement full stack cloud solutions to include IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
    • Design and deploy computing infrastructure, physical or virtual machines and other resources like virtual-machine disk image library, block and file-based storage, firewalls, load balancers, IP addresses, virtual local area networks.
    • Implement cloud based platform services such as AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Windows Azure Cloud Services, Heroku, Force.com, Google App Engine, Apache Stratos, Puppet, Chef or similar cloud based PaaS services.
    • Implement cloud based software as services offerings such as Amazon, Google Apps, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365 and similar enterprise SaaS offerings. Perform DevOps functions. 
    • May serve in a project oversight role as the technical or project lead due to the broad technical knowledge of Cloud solutions.
    • This applies to Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud based IT system deployments

     

     

    Qualifications

    Must be able to pass a DHS Suitability clearance

     

    Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, or related discipline or substitute 4 years’ experience involving cloud based architecture or implementation.  Obtaining and maintaining an industry recognized applicable Cloud Computing vendor certification can be substituted for a BS Degree.

    • Minimum 4+ years software development experience
    • Demonstrated experience with secure development, coding, engineering
    • Proficient in Java
    • Full Stack Development capabilities
    • Experience working within a Continuous Integration environment
    • Experience working with AWS tools and environments
    • Experience writing automated tests
    • Preferred experience with Jira or a similar scrum management tool
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
    • Seeking candidates for mid to senior levels

    Desired Skills/Experience

    • Java and J2EE (full stack)
    • Javascript based stacks (MEAN) and open source technologies
    • OpenShift PaaS using Docker
    • Experience in Java with Spring MVC/REST/Data/Boot, JUnit and JPA
    • Experience with the following technologies: Angular (typescript), React (typescript) or NodeJS
    • XML and JSON
    • Writing queries with relational databases 
    • Web technologies - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, jQuery
    • Testing frameworks Selenium, Cumber, JUnit/TestNG
    • Automated Test-Driven Development (ATDD) tools using Selenium, Cucumber
    • Kafka/JMS and messaging tools
    • Desired: Docker, Docker Compose, Git, Jenkins, Java Applications servers (Tomcat/JBoss/etc), SQL and NoSQL DB, Gradle or Maven, Agile Development
    • Additional Desired: Liquibase, Flyway, ElasticSearch, Solr/Lucene, Cucumber
    • Continuous integration tools and DevOps automation
    • DHS/USCIS experience preferred

     

    Security Clearance: Must be a US Citizen and have or are able to obtain a Government Agency Suitability Clearance.
